SASO certification

        SASO Certification

        What is SASO certification

        In fact, many of the SASO standards are related to . Like many other countries, Saudi Arabia has added some unique items to the standard according to the country's civil and industrial voltage, geographical and climatic environment, ethnic and religious habits. In order to achieve consumer protection, the SASO standard is not only for products imported from abroad, but also for Saudi Arabia The same applies to products produced in the Arab region.

        The need for SASO certification

        The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Industry and Commerce and SASO require that all products included in the SASO certification standards have a SASO certificate when entering Saudi Customs. Products without a SASO certificate will be refused entry by Saudi Port Customs.

        Products are exported to Saudi Arabia. When the goods enter customs, a SASO certificate must be issued. The technical staff of the Saudi Arabian Standards Organization will examine the certificates. If a SASO certificate cannot be issued, the products will be refused entry or sampled to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of Saudi Arabia or Saudi Arabian Standards Organization's laboratories perform tests. If the test fails, the product will be refused entry, and all costs will be borne by the exporting company.

        SASO Certified Product Range

        SASO certification includes all products used by adults and children in residences, offices or entertainment venues, all motor vehicles and spare parts, and construction products. These products can be mainly divided into the following categories:

        Air Conditioning SASO, Battery SASO, Cosmetics SASO, Toy SASO, Compressor SASO, Fan SASO, Household Appliances SASO, Wire and Cable SASO, FAX SASO, Luminaire SASO, Optical Power SASO, Elevator SASO, Generator SASO, Office Electrical Equipment SASO, PC SASO, Power SASO, Auto Accessories SASO, Ceramic SASO, Audio SASO, Amplifier SASO, Conference System SASO, Mixer SASO

        Saudi cities use lower voltages, which are divided into 127 volts and 220 volts (Riyadh 235 volts), both at 60 Hz; but at Mecca and industrial districts use higher voltages, 220 volts and 380 volts, and also 60 hertz. At the same time, the office also has 110 volt (that is, refers to 127 volts) and 220 volt two kinds of electrical sockets for electrical products with different voltages. In general, air conditioners, washing machines use 220 volts, and small appliances use 110 volts.

        SASO Certification Application Procedure

        Manufacturers obtaining SASO certification and exporting products to Saudi Arabia require the following steps:

        Submit an application to the consulting company. According to the product category, the consulting company will inform the company of the product certification process in accordance with SASO requirements;

        The company submits product samples for inspection according to the certification procedure, and some products (such as some motor vehicles and accessories products) need to be checked by the factory;

        After passing the product inspection, the company obtains the SASO certification; if the product fails the inspection, the company will receive a detailed explanation report.

        SASO certifications

        First, Pre-shipment Compliance Verification (Pre-shipment Compliance Verification)

        This method is best suited for shipping very few exporters or manufacturers. Before each shipment, you need to apply for PSI before shipment and PST before shipment. Both are eligible for a CoC certificate.

        Second, product registration (Registration)

        This method is suitable for most customers. Its advantage is that each shipment inspection (PSI) is necessary, but each shipment does not need to be pre-shipment testing (PST). The client can obtain Statement of Registration (SfR) by submitting the compliance declaration and providing test reports that meet the importing countries and relevant international or domestic standards, and stating that the products have met the basic requirements and national differences of the importing country.

        Third, type approval (Type Approval Licensing)

        This method can save the inspection fee or test fee before each shipment, simplify the repeated application procedures, and ensure the delivery time, so it is a part of the shipment is more frequent or larger scale, focusing on quality and reputation The company favored. The exporter or manufacturer's product can only obtain the Statement for Licence (SfL) certificate if it fully complies with the mandatory standards of the importer and exporter. The certificate is valid for one year. Before the expiry date, it is required to submit the factory inspection report and pay the annual fee, which can be renewed after being reviewed by the RLC. The SfL certificate products no longer need to be pre-shipment inspection (PSI) for each batch of goods, but reduced to a few very few sampling inspections a year (usually 2-3 times / year, depending on the product status).

        The test is based on SASO/PAI standards or IEC standards + national differences. The requirements of SASO/PAI standards need to be considered separately. Some of them are quite different. The rated voltage in Saudi Arabia is 220V, 50/60Hz (with BS plug) or 127V, 60Hz ( With UL plug) (need to provide another prototype for testing); Kuwait The voltage is 240V, 50Hz (with BS plug).

        Type certification requires factory inspection;

        For electrical products exported to Saudi Arabia, the nominal frequency marked on the product must include 60 Hz;

        The user's manual for exporting air-conditioners to Saudi Arabia must be in Arabic and English; for audio and video products, user manuals must be in Arabic;

        The original safety and EMC reports must be issued by accredited laboratories within 2-3 years.
