What is CSA certification

CSA is the abbreviation of the Canadian Standards Association. Founded in 1919, it is the first non-profit organization in Canada to set industry standards. Electronics, electrical appliances and other products sold in the North American market require safety certification. Currently, CSA is Canada's largest security certification authority and one of the world's most famous security certification organizations. It can provide safety certification for all types of products in machinery, building materials, electrical appliances, computer equipment, office equipment, environmental protection, medical fire safety, sports and entertainment. CSA has provided certification services for thousands of manufacturers all over the world. Every year, hundreds of millions of products with CSA logos are sold in the North American market.

 

Certified product type

CSA's certification testing mainly focuses on eight aspects:

Human survival and environment: including occupational health and safety, public safety, sports and entertainment equipment environmental protection and health care technology.

Electrical and Electronic: Including the installation regulations for electrical equipment used in construction, and various electrical and electronic products for industrial and commercial use.

Communications and Information: Includes residential processing systems, telecommunications and electromagnetic interference technologies and equipment.

Building structure: including building materials and products, civil products, concrete, masonry structures, pipe fittings and architectural designs.

Energy: Including energy regeneration and transfer, fuel combustion and safety equipment, nuclear energy technology.

Transportation and distribution systems: including motor vehicle safety, oil and gas pipelines, material handling and distribution, and offshore facilities.

Material technology: including welding and metallurgy.

Commercial and production management systems: including quality management and basic engineering.

 

CSA certification process

1. Complete the preliminary application form, along with instructions and technical data for all related products (including all electrical and plastic materials) to CSA;

2. The CSA will determine the certification fee based on the specific conditions of the product, and then notify the company by fax.

3. After the application company confirms, it will send a formal application form and notification, which includes the following requirements:

1) After the formal application form is signed, the wire transfer certification fee (which can be paid in RMB) will be paid to the office.

2) Follow the notice to send the test template to the designated place.

4. The designated laboratory will perform the certification work on time.

5. After the certification test is completed, a preliminary report will be sent to the applicant company as detailed below.

1) How can the product structure be improved to meet the standards?

2) Other information to be used to complete the certification report

3) Please apply for the contents of the company's simple certification record draft

4) The gimmicks required for CSA certification and how to obtain steamed bread

5) Factory testing required for the product

6. The CSA will assess the applicant’s answer to the above-mentioned fifth item;

7. At the same time, CSA will prepare a certification report for product production reference and follow-up inspection.

8. At this stage, under certain circumstances, CSA will go to the factory to make an initial assessment of the factory, abbreviated as IFE.

9. The final CSA will issue a certificate of conformity with the certification record and authorize the applicant company to add the CSA certification mark to other products.

10. The applicant company must sign a service agreement with CSA to indicate that both parties agree to the CSA's visit to the factory for product follow-up inspection. The applicant company must pay an annual fee each year to maintain the agreement.

Product Description (including but not limited to the following):

Product name, product model, product use.

Parts List Please provide the name and model, rating, and manufacturer information of the product parts. If the part has obtained CSA or UL certification, please specify the file number of the part. If a part has more than one supplier, it can be provided.

Product performance and specifications, such as size, rated voltage, current, frequency, and power.

Structure diagram or explosion diagram: The organization diagram of the product indicates the name of the part in the drawing so that it corresponds to the parts list.

Provide circuit schematics: PCB schematics, product photos, instructions, safety instructions, or installation instructions.

 

Certification period and validity period

3-4 weeks
