    According to The BIS Act (1986), the Indian Bureau of Standards (BIS) is India's authority for standardization and certification. It is responsible for product certification.     Certification process

    1.    Apply. Foreign manufacturers who want to obtain BIS certification generally need to use a dedicated application and prepare relevant documents to apply to BIS New Delhi headquarters.

    2.    Records. BIS will review the application documents and materials submitted by the applicants. If the procedures are complete, the application will be recorded. Applicants must pay the corresponding processing fee.

    3.    Initial factory inspection. BIS will appoint no more than 2 officials to go to the factory for inspection. The applicant shall bear the expenses of travel, visa fees, etc., as well as the corresponding inspection costs, of the official delegation to the factory.

    4.    Issue certificates. If the results of the initial inspection and test are satisfactory, and the applicant applies for certification, the BIS approved inspection and test plan is executed and the BIS identification fee is paid, the applicant can be issued a certificate. The validity period of the certificate is 1 year. After the certificate is granted, the licensee shall pay the annual fee for the identification fee memory certificate.

    Supervision after certification. BIS supervises the quality of its certified products through regular supervision of the ruling party and surprise inspections and testing of samples on the factory and market. If periodic inspections are performed, samples taken from the factory or market will meet the requirements of the factory inspection and independent test results, and the certificate will be updated. The executor submits a request for an update to BIS by submitting the prescribed form, and the certificate renewal fee is 500 rupees. The executor must also bear the cost of sample inspection.

    

    Certification Considerations

    1.    BIS certification is valid for one year and applicants are required to pay an annual fee. You can apply for an extension before the expiry date. At this time, you must submit an application for extension and pay the application fee and annual fee.

    2.    BIS receives a CB report from an active agency.
